This painting holds a lot of visual context in its elements: the vibrant color scheme, randomly placed objects, and its bright overall atmosphere. At first glance, it is evident that this surreal painting demonstrates a playful and childish approach, where mountains are pink, trees are balloons, and kids are dressed in dinosaur costumes. Despite these childish elements, my goal with this piece was to exhibit the concept of growth, regardless of the environment we are surrounded in. In the painting, the twin girls are surrounded by features that demonstrate both immaturity and youth; even as they are playing the tablet game, they remain poker-faced and are sitting straight and rather formally. I symbolized the girls in a way that portrays gradual maturation through their neutral clothing and revealed possible nostalgia towards their growth and concluding youth through their facial expressions, all contradicting their childlike surroundings.
